exhibition · 2026-04-19

The Kunsthal Rotterdam is showcasing 'Sculpting the Senses,' a comprehensive retrospective of Dutch designer Iris van Herpen, which will be open until 1 March 2026. This exhibition highlights more than one hundred pieces organized into nine thematic sections. Van Herpen, born in Wamel, Netherlands, in 1984, studied at ArtEZ University and honed her skills under Alexander McQueen before establishing her own label in 2007. Her designs merge haute couture with innovative technology, employing 3D printing and partnerships with artists like Philip Beesley. Notable collections include 'Crystallization' (2010), 'Sensory Seas,' and 'Earth Rise.' The exhibition also features a recreation of her Amsterdam studio and a soundscape by Salvador Breed. Her works are part of collections at the V&A and The Met, and she became a member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2011.
