Iris van Herpen and Julie Gautier Release Underwater Dance Film 'Carte Blanche'

Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen and French dancer-choreographer Julie Gautier have collaborated on a short film titled 'Carte Blanche,' presented during Paris Haute Couture Week. The film features three dancers, including Gautier, wearing van Herpen's creations while floating underwater. The choreography was co-created by Gautier and van Herpen. The film is described as an ode to the strength of women, particularly Iranian women, and to women worldwide. It showcases van Herpen's spring-summer 2023 collection through ethereal fabrics and intricate weaves, with a soundtrack by Miranda Vukasovic. The narrative follows three women merging into a painting of skin, textures of growth and decay, and a solitary red heart descending into the depths of consciousness, moving from isolation and oppression toward resilience and invincibility. The collaboration aims to present the collection artistically while promoting messages of female empowerment.
