Irene Campolmi: From Italy to Denmark, a Curator's Journey
After completing her studies early at the University of Florence, Italian art historian and curator Irene Campolmi relocated to Denmark, having to pay tuition for an academic year she did not utilize in Italy. She acquired valuable experience at Galleria Continua and GNAM in Rome, and also taught in Florence. While serving as a researcher at the Max Planck Institute, she focused on the history of exhibitions in European art museums. Campolmi secured a PhD position at Aarhus University and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, where she organized the 2015 conference titled "Between the Discursive and the Immersive." She currently oversees the Talks, Film and Performance Program at Code Art Fair in Copenhagen, highlighting the challenging circumstances faced by independent curators in Denmark.
