IRAE: New Editorial Project Merging Art and Sustainability

publication · 2026-04-27

IRAE, a fresh editorial initiative, has been introduced by the non-profit organization Yourban 2030, which is led by Veronica De Angelis. The concept emerged from a collaborative insight shared by De Angelis and Angelo Cricchi, who serves as Editor in Chief and Creative Director. The title IRAE alludes to Dies Irae, symbolizing the Day of Judgment and highlighting the threat of ecological collapse. Each edition is a collectible item, focusing on various experts—intellectuals, photographers, scientists, and inventors—who explore the question, "Is this the end?" while offering a hopeful perspective: "This [is not] the end." The inaugural issue, released on March 14, 2022, features a unique project by Paolo Canevari, showcasing an entirely black artwork. The first issue’s theme centers around the Japanese character MU, signifying emptiness. Contributors include Ezio Amato, Andreco, and many others. It is available at Messaggerie (La Feltrinelli, Mondadori, Ubik), Armani Book, Hoepli, and online.
