Ipercorpo Festival in Forlì Rescheduled with New Dates and Expanded Program
The Ipercorpo festival in Forlì, Italy, has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, now spanning from autumn 2020 to spring 2021. Artistic director Claudio Angelini announced that the usual symposia will take place in October and November at the Diagonal venue, focusing on the theme of 'real time.' The festival, now in its 18th edition after 15 years, will shift its usual format to accommodate international artists who cannot attend in autumn, with their interventions postponed to May 2021. The founding groups include Santansagre, gruppo nanou, Offouro/Alessandro Carboni, Cosmesi, Città di Ebla, Muta Imago, and Pathosformel. Angelini emphasized that the festival aims to create an open space for listening to artists' desires rather than imposing new norms in the COVID-19 era. The program will involve theoretical figures and curators to help navigate the current moment, though specific names are not yet disclosed. The festival's sections—theatre and dance, music, contemporary art, Italian Performance Platform, Masterclass Internazionale Scena Europa, and workshops—will maintain artistic autonomy. Angelini reflected on the festival's name, 'Ipercorpo' (hyperbody), in the context of social distancing, noting that the body under attack must lose something to survive. He hopes the festival can avoid becoming overly medicalized and instead indicate new expressive paths. The working group includes Mara Serina, Valentina Bravetti, Elisa Gandini, Davide Fabbri, and Davide Ferri.
