Iotti and Pavarani to redesign ACI headquarters in Reggio Emilia

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Architects Paolo Iotti and Marco Pavarani have won the competition to redesign the Automobile Club Italia (ACI) headquarters in Reggio Emilia, originally built in 1973 by Gianni Boeri. The project involves functional and technical recovery of the existing building, construction of a new head structure replacing two buildings to be demolished, and redevelopment of the square. The design emphasizes external spaces, creating a 'green crown' inspired by 15th-century historical maps showing gardens behind the church and palace. The total area is 4,500 square meters. The competition, which concluded in 2017, involved 10 studios invited in October 2016. The architects, based in Reggio Emilia, recently completed the new operational headquarters of Reale Group in Turin with engineer Tosetti of Artecna. Executive design is expected by May 2017, construction start in September 2017, and completion by December 2018.
