Investec Cape Town Art Fair Opens with Expanded International Focus
The Investec Cape Town Art Fair has commenced, with director Laura Vincenti emphasizing the event's commitment to showcasing African artists alongside their international counterparts. This year’s fair features a cultural program that includes exhibitions by El Anatsui at the Iziko South African National Gallery and Nicholas Hlobo at the Maitland Institute. Collaborations with Zeitz MOCAA, A4 Arts Foundation, AVA, and Greatmore Studios enhance the experience, along with discussions featuring curators from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and Zoma Museum. Curated sections such as Tomorrow/Today, SOLO, and Unframed highlight emerging and women artists. The Main Section boasts 30 international galleries, including newcomers Gregor Podnar and Perrotin. An After Hours Hub curated by Brent Meistre will showcase video screenings, with Vincenti expressing hope that attendees find the fair "fresh."
