Invader Installs Pixelated Music Tributes at Philharmonie de Paris

French street artist Invader has installed a series of ceramic tile mosaics across the Philharmonie de Paris and the adjacent Cité de la Musique, designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The works coincide with the ongoing exhibition "Video Games & Music" at the venue. The mosaics pay homage to iconic music figures: Daft Punk (Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo), French chanson singer Barbara (born Monique Serf), and the experimental rock band The Velvet Underground, associated with Andy Warhol. Each tribute references past exhibitions at the complex—"Electro: From Kraftwerk to Daft Punk" (2019), "Barbara" (2017), and "The Velvet Underground: New York Extravaganza" (2016). The Barbara mosaic is placed near the artists' entrance. The project continues Invader's global "invasion" that began in Paris in the late 1990s, now comprising over 4,000 works across 80 cities. His previous Parisian landmarks include the Eiffel Tower and his 1500th invasion at the Centre Pompidou. One of his mosaics has been sent to the International Space Station, and another installed on the ocean bed off Cancún.
