Intuitive Collaboration: 'Stranger Things' Photo Shoot Unites Five Artists

A collaborative fashion photography project titled 'Stranger Things' brought together five creatives from diverse cultural backgrounds in Barcelona, resulting in a body of work described as a fusion of identities, instincts, and artistic voices. The project, featured as a KALTBLUT exclusive, emphasizes surrender, trust in the unknown, and connection through non-verbal communication, particularly hand gestures and body movement. The team included Polish photographer Gosia Blasiak, London-Irish makeup artist James Mac, Portuguese-Angolan model Cila, Venezuelan stylist Nelson Giovanny, and Scottish-Moroccan designer Rocco Berow. The collaboration began when Blasiak met Mac, who then encountered Cila at a queer-focused music event in November. The shoot was conducted without fixed expectations, allowing the work to unfold organically. Blasiak, based in Barcelona for thirteen years, approaches photography as emotional storytelling, influenced by her background in film directing and acting. Mac, raised in rural Ireland, draws on his experience with Tourette's syndrome to explore vulnerability in his artistry. Cila, who describes her past as one of survival, views the shoot as a transformation. Nelson, who found a new home in Barcelona, sees styling as translating the invisible into image. The project also included retoucher Darya. The team emphasizes that the collaboration formed a new creative kinship, contrasting with an industry often perceived as closed and structured.
