Into the Woods: All-Female Group Exhibition at Galerie des galeries

Curated by Daria de Beauvais, the group exhibition 'Into the Woods' at Galerie des galeries in Paris (January 26 – March 17, 2012) features only female artists, creating a meditative journey through a forest-themed environment. The show opens with a sound installation by Marcelline Delbecq, then a film by Jessica Warboys, 'Caves of Light,' sets a slow pace, paired with a cocoon-like sculpture by Laëtitia Badaut Haussmann. A large drawing by Iris Van Dongen depicts a female creature with a staff topped by a skull, evoking initiation. Anne-Laure Sacriste's black paintings reference Arnold Böcklin's 'Isle of the Dead,' linking the forest to the realm of the dead. Maria Loboda contributes witch-like clawed branches, and Mimosa Echard presents a spider web made of steel and silver chains.
