Into Nature’s Fifth Edition Turns De Onlanden into a Water-Sensitive Art Route

The fifth edition of Into Nature is taking place in De Onlanden, a marshland in Drenthe that acts as a water buffer for Groningen. This open-air exhibition spans 20 kilometers and showcases thirteen pieces created by twelve artists, centered around the theme 'Haunted by Waters,' which highlights concerns over drought and anticipated heavy rainfall. Among the featured works is Martin Brandsma’s 'Handwerk II+' (2023), where arrows embedded in tree trunks form verbs associated with the great grey shrike. Maud van den Beuken presents 'Wekelijkse Waterberichten,' a poetic interpretation of weather updates. Additional contributors include Mercedes Azpilicueta, Nils Alix-Tabeling, Garrett Phelan, Manuel Chavajay, Pia Lindman, Marina Sulima, Rosanne van Wijk, Manjot Kaur’s 'Poly-nation' (2026), and Priscila Fernandes.
