Intimate/Stranger: Franco-Tunisian Contemporary Art Encounters in Tunis Medina

The inaugural Rencontres d'art contemporain de la médina took place in Tunis from October 18 to December 15, 2003, under the curation of Meriem Bouderbala and Sophie Revault-Golvin. The exhibition, titled "Intime/étranger," was held at Palais Kheïreddine and Club Tahar Haddad, showcasing works from 17 artists from France and Tunisia. Highlights included Fatma Charfi's "Un laboratoire de paix," Raoul Karray's paintings, and Abderrazak Sahli's sakhanes. Mouna Douf examined themes of domesticity, while Patricia K.TriKi and Insaf Saada delved into "néo-A." Criticism was directed at Meriem Jegham's video-sculpture. Additional pieces featured Felice Varini's building outline and Christophe Cartier's "Dessus-dessous."
