Intesa Sanpaolo's Culture Project: 30,000 Works and a €Multi-Million Budget

Michele Coppola, Director of Arte, Cultura e Beni Storici at Intesa Sanpaolo, outlines the bank's Culture Project, which manages over 30,000 artworks across three Gallerie d'Italia venues in Milan, Naples, and Vicenza. With an annual budget of several million euros, the project has restored over 1,500 works and attracts more than 500,000 visitors yearly. Coppola highlights a shift from passive sponsorship to active 'acting' and commitment, exemplified by partnerships like main sponsorship of miart fair. The bank's collection includes ancient vases, Russian icons, 17th-century Neapolitan painting, and the Agrati collection with works by Warhol, Rauschenberg, and Basquiat. Upcoming exhibitions include a Canova and Thorvaldsen show in Milan, a Botticelli restoration in Naples, and a Mantegna exhibition in Turin. The historical archive spans over 20 linear kilometers, including the Publifoto photographic collection of over 7 million images.
