Intervallo: Diego Marcon Brings Art to Milan Medical Waiting Room

The ongoing project 'Arte nelle sale d’attesa' (Art in Waiting Rooms) in Milan, initiated in April 2014 by curator Anna Musini with Elisa Penagini and artist Pino Pipoli, aims to foster dialogue between contemporary art and everyday life by inviting artists to exhibit in non-art spaces. In 2016, the project evolved into 'Intervallo,' curated by Anna Musini, featuring interventions by artists Lupo Borgonovo and Lisa Rampilli, and now Diego Marcon, whose work was inaugurated at Studio Medico Milano on Via Vincenzo Bellini 1. Each appointment creates a unique dialogue, offering reflections to patients and provoking reactions. The project also engages patients as an initially unaware audience, with organizers emphasizing curiosity and the desire for knowledge. The broader context includes initiatives like Rebecca Russo's Fondazione Videoinsight in Turin, which uses moving images for psychotherapy in hospitals, and Paris-based Art dans la Cité, which promotes contemporary art in hospitals and organizes the Biennale Européen des arts visuels à l’hôpital (last held in 2014).
