International dance blooms in Monferrato hills with Orsolina28 and Royal Ballet
The Monferrato area in southern Piedmont, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014, has emerged as a center for global dance. Established in 2016 by Simony Monteiro, Orsolina28 – Art Foundation provides residencies for choreographers and includes the Open Air Stage and The Eye. The summer season extends from May to August 23, featuring a preview of Sharon Eyal's work prior to the Torinodanza Festival. Akram Khan recently finished a residency, showcasing "Turning of Bones" for Gauthier Dance, under the direction of Eric Gauthier. On July 15, the second Rocchetta Grand Jeté took place in Rocchetta Tanaro, showcasing dancers from the Royal Ballet. This initiative, linked to A Bottle for the Arts, was created by Francesca Massone Incisa and Ross MacGibbon.
