International Competition Launches for Turin Metro Line 2 Art Stations
Turin is set to implement the 'art stations' concept for Metro Line 2, initiating an international contest for artists and designers to weave urban art into the transit system. The initiative, overseen by commissioner Bernardino Chiaia at Infra.to, aims for stations to embody local culture. The central station at Palazzo Carignano will feature an underground link to Piazza Carlo Alberto, designed by architect Andrea Bruno in a hypogeum hall. A collaboration agreement with the Savoy Royal Residences museum network has been established. The selection jury, led by architect Dominique Perrault, will choose five finalists, announcing the winner in March 2026. The 27-km line will consist of 32 stations, with construction commencing soon and a completion goal of 2032. Proposals must be submitted by October 7, 2025.
