International Center for Art Printmaking Launches in Urbino

institutional · 2026-04-26

Urbino is set to rejuvenate its printmaking heritage through the launch of 2RCABAU – Centro Internazionale della Grafica d’Arte, a new laboratory for art printmaking that Achille Bonito Oliva has supported since 2007. Situated within the Accademia di Belle Arti, it boasts a calcographic press crafted by Valter Rossi in the 1970s. The center will officially open on March 14, with its inaugural workshop scheduled for May, focusing on training a team to create original graphic pieces on copper plates. The historic 2RC Stamperia, established in Rome in 1959 by Valter and Eleonora Rossi, worked with prominent artists and institutions. In July 2022, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage acknowledged works from 'Impronte dell’Arte.' Artist Charles Ray will receive the Sigillo delle Arti honorary title in 2025.
