Interlochen to Demolish Lodge Once Named for Jeffrey Epstein
The Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan will demolish the Green Lake Lodge, formerly known as the Jeffrey E. Epstein Scholarship Lodge, due to its association with the late sex offender. Epstein attended the arts camp in 1967 and donated over $400,000 between 1990 and 2003, including $200,000 for the lodge's construction. The board of trustees approved the demolition after an external investigation into historical misconduct. At least two accusers say they met Epstein at Interlochen in the 1990s. Internal reviews after Epstein's 2019 arrest found no records of misconduct involving him. Epstein visited periodically with Ghislaine Maxwell and stayed at the lodge. He killed himself in jail in August 2019. Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.
