Instagram Bans Harassment Videos Filmed with Meta Smart Glasses

Instagram is banning videos filmed with Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses that feature harassment of strangers in public places, according to Instagram head Adam Mosseri. The policy targets pickup artist and prank videos where individuals are recorded without consent. Two large pickup artist accounts with over one million followers each were deactivated for violating the policy. Meta confirmed the bans but did not specify enforcement details. The move follows growing privacy concerns over Meta's smart glasses, which have been called "pervert glasses" on social media. Meta previously updated the glasses to disable the camera if the LED indicator light is concealed. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly developing smart glasses without recording capabilities, emphasizing privacy, expected to be unveiled at WWDC in June.
