CEO Jingkang "JK" Liu initially teased an unknown camera on Weibo in January 2024, but recent photos from Bilibili provide clearer details. The camera features a white body with traditional controls including a command dial, shutter release, and mode dial, plus a hot shoe and Micro Four Thirds lens mount, but lacks a viewfinder. This marks a significant departure for Insta360, known for 360-degree and action cameras, as it would be their first interchangeable lens camera. The Micro Four Thirds choice is notable because Insta360 and its parent company Arashi Vision are not members of the Micro Four Thirds system, unlike competitor DJI. GoPro also recently announced plans for a Micro Four Thirds camera despite not being a system member. The camera's SLR-style design contrasts with Insta360's typical products, raising questions about its features and performance. No official announcement date has been set.
