INSPIRE#4 explores how cultural education opens new access to museum collections

The fourth edition of INSPIRE, published by MAKURA – the portal for cultural education and participation of the Kulturstiftung der Länder – accompanies the current Arsprototo issue on the theme of "Exhibiting." It examines how museum collections today become not only visible but also experiential, and what contribution cultural education can make. The issue features several case studies: art educator Birgit Baumgart in Schwerin engages teenagers with the conceptual art of Marcel Duchamp; the effect of free museum admission on audiences is explored; young people in the Dresden Gemäldegalerie develop their own presentation of Old Master paintings parallel to the exhibition "Correggio. Berührend menschlich" funded by the Kulturstiftung der Länder; and open storage depots make visible artworks and objects not currently on display.
