Inside the Hamptons: A New Book Reveals 18 Private Estates

Jennifer Ash Rudick's new book 'Inside the Hamptons,' published by Vendome Press, offers unprecedented access to 18 private residences across the South Fork, from Quogue to Montauk. The homes range from weathered barns-turned-artist-studios and shingled cottages to oceanfront estates and glass-walled modernist houses. Notable participants include Aerin Lauder, who opened her Water Mill beach bungalow—a granddaughter's homage to Estée Lauder's family estate—art collector Carolyn Brody, and real estate power broker Mary Ann Tighe. George de Man's Shelter Island Victorian empties in winter when the ferry slows, while Amanda Ross and Zack Bacon's Shinnecock Hills cottage is a year-round family retreat. Photographer Tria Giovan, based in Sag Harbor, shot the interiors; this is her third collaboration with Rudick. Paul Goldberger contributes the foreword, emphasizing that the book reveals a Hamptons beyond gossip columns, showcasing spaces for both engagement and retreat.
