Inside Other Spaces: Women Artists' Environments at Leeum Museum, Seoul

From May 5 to November 29, 2026, the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul will host an exhibition titled 'Inside Other Spaces: Environments by Women Artists 1956–1976.' The show, curated by Andrea Lissoni from Haus der Kunst Munich, Marina Pugliese from Mudec Museo Delle Culture Milano, and both Sungwon Kim and Eunjung EJ Cho from the Leeum Museum, focuses on immersive artworks created by women over two decades. Highlights include Tsuruko Yamazaki's 'Red (shape of mosquito net)' from 1956 and Judy Chicago's 'Feather Room' from 1966. Additionally, there's a new installation called 'Leeum 26 IV 29 Seoul Dream House: Sound and Light Environment' by La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela, and Jung Hee Choi, along with Kimsooja's 'To Breathe' from 2021, which will be a permanent exhibit. This event emphasizes the significant yet often overlooked contributions of women in the field of installation and environmental art across different regions.
