Inhotim kicks off 20th anniversary with three new exhibitions and a sculpture

On April 25, 2026, Instituto Inhotim in Brumadinho, Brazil, begins its 20th-anniversary celebrations with three inaugural shows: a panoramic survey of Dalton Paula titled 'Dupla Cura' (curated by Beatriz Lemos), a solo exhibition 'Tororoma' by davi de jesus do nascimento (curated by Deri Andrade), and a new large-scale sculpture 'Contraplano' (2026) by Lais Myrrha (curated by Douglas de Freitas). 'Dupla Cura' features over 100 works, including new commissions, and engages with the museum's nature, education, and equity committees. 'Tororoma' presents three paintings and a video shot at Cavernas do Peruaçu, Minas Gerais, alongside carrancas by Mestre Expedito, who had not produced new pieces in a decade. 'Contraplano' occupies 250 m² at the park's highest point, referencing Oscar Niemeyer's Praça da Liberdade building in Belo Horizonte and addressing mining landscapes. The opening includes performances, curator-led tours, and public activities. The anniversary calendar promises six more inaugurations and an exhibition on Inhotim's history throughout the year. Artistic director Júlia Rebouças emphasized the institution's commitment to developing unprecedented projects in partnership with artists.
