Ingrid Hora: Gleaning Stories from Clubs and Collectives

artist · 2026-04-24

Ingrid Hora is a talented artist who specializes in architecture and critical design theory. Her creations draw inspiration from her experiences with hobbyist and semi-professional groups, known as vereine, mainly in her native South Tyrol, Italy, and Berlin, where she now lives. She often works with older adults, highlighting their physical experiences and collective learning. Back in 2010, she teamed up with a group of women swimmers in their seventies from former East Germany to teach them Die Wende, a swimming style that represents Germany's transition from socialism to capitalism. Hora's recent exhibitions include Bien (2019) at Galleria Doris Ghetta, the 2020 Biennale Gherdëina, and Empathisers (2020) at Galleria Civica Bressanone. In 2023, artist Bani Abidi selected her for Future Greats.
