Infiniti QX65 crossover SUV channels 2002 FX35 spirit
Infiniti has launched the QX65, a coupé-backed mid-sized crossover SUV that draws design inspiration from the 2002 Infiniti FX35 (sold in the UK as the FX50S). Built in Tennessee, the QX65 is a traditional all-wheel-drive ICE-powered vehicle positioned below the full-size QX80 and as a sister car to the three-row QX60. Taisuke Nakamura, head of global Infiniti design, explained that the FX is considered one of the brand's greatest works and the QX65 aims to maintain its spirit. The fastback silhouette conveys speed, with a strong front end, slim piano key headlights, and a 3D logo in the grille. Unique 21-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and a two-tone cabin emphasize robustness. A new color, Sunfire Red, was created for the QX65, inspired by the Nissan GT-R and the rising sun, containing sparkling gold flakes. The interior features quilted stitching inspired by Japanese kimono culture, and physical controls are prioritized over screens for intuitive operation. The QX65 is available in three models: Luxe ($53,990), Sport ($55,690), and Autograph ($62,590).
