Infinita Infanzia: Childhood Explored in Spoleto Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto presents 'Infinita Infanzia', a group exhibition curated by director Saverio Verini, running from May 2024. The show draws from Verini's essay 'La Stagione Fatata' (Castelvecchi) and examines childhood through multiple artistic lenses. Entering between Sol LeWitt's 'Bands of Colors n. 95' (1971) and Richard Serra's 'Spoleto Circles' (1972) from the permanent collection, visitors encounter works exploring play, school, instincts, and the darker side of fairy tales. A dedicated room features Pinocchio, with Marta Roberti's 'Autoritratto come Pinocchio' (2024) made for the show. Myriam Laplante's 'Lupus in Fabula' (2005-2024) reinterprets the Brothers Grimm, while Elena Bellantoni's 'CeMento' (2019) uses cement beach toys to critique Italian development. Other works include Alexander Calder's 'Standing Mobile' (1974), Namsal Siedlecki's 'Group Show' (2014-2024) with bitten clay, and Vedovamazzei's 'Early Works (Raffaello all'età di 7 anni)' (2021), which reimagines Renaissance art from childhood memory. The exhibition combines permanent collection pieces with loans and site-specific works, spanning literature and film.
