Indian Artist Maps Biodiversity Across 28 States on Instagram

Indian artist Sudarshan Shaw (b. 1993, Bhubaneswar) merges science and art in his project 'Picture of Divinity', which documents India's wildlife through a map for each of the country's 28 states. The maps, published on Instagram, use distinct artistic styles from each state to represent local fauna, from mammals and birds to amphibians, reptiles, fish, and insects. Shaw argues that wildlife and indigenous populations cannot be separated, stating that 'tribals living in an area are part of the ecosystem and their voice is important.'
