The inaugural edition of INDEX, a biennial dedicated to the intersection of art and technology, is set to take place in Braga, Portugal, with "surface" as its central theme. Curated by Luís Fernandes, the event showcases 127 projects from 45 nations, featuring artists such as Florian Hecker and Peter Burr. Highlights include the Portuguese debut of "Inside" by Frédérique Aït Touati and Bruno Latour, along with various exhibitions, workshops, and conferences. INDEX is part of the Braga Media Arts initiative, which aims to elevate Braga as a UNESCO Creative City, with backing from Teatro Circo de Braga EM SA and the Braga City Council. Antonio Ponte from the Ministry of Culture emphasized the significance of merging cultural heritage with technological advancements, while Mayor Ricardo Rio remarked on Braga's potential for enhanced visibility in new media arts.
