Independent Film Show 18th Edition Opens in Naples
The 18th edition of the Independent Film Show, curated by Raffaella Morra, runs in Naples from June 21 to 23, 2018, with extended programming through July 6. The festival focuses on experimental film, expanded cinema, and live performances. International filmmakers and curators include Masha Godovannaya, Iana Stefanova, Maeva Aubert, Christin Turner, Bernhard Schreiner, Bea Haut, Laura Hindmarsh, Helga Fanderl, and Jeanne Liotta. Key events include a live double 16mm projection of Jeanne Liotta's films at Vigna San Martino on June 21; a performance by Canecapovolto on June 22; Bea Haut's program of UK films on June 22; and Bernhard Schreiner's concert at the Belvedere of Museo Nitsch on June 23. A video installation by Jeanne Liotta, 'In This Immense Space Hidden Things Appear Before Us,' is on view at Capriata Museo Nitsch from June 22 to July 6, alongside her watercolors. The installation pays homage to Yoko Ono's 'Sky TV' (1966) and uses live smartphone feeds overlaid with computer-generated celestial objects. The festival collaborates with La Digestion, a music organization, to integrate sound performances. The event is presented by Fondazione Morra and hosted at Museo Nitsch.
