İnci Eviner's Ceramic Sculptures and Performance Debut at Frieze Sculpture 2024

İnci Eviner presents her installation Materials of Mind Theatre at Frieze Sculpture 2024, featuring 25 ceramic sculptures arranged on a platform that functions as both stage and pedestal. Each costume-like sculpture bears evocative titles such as Boxing Gloves Ready to Fight and Quact-Hypocritical Arse-Kissers, representing emotional states and social commentary. The performance Under One Body features a performer wearing an elaborate costume with four legs, four arms, and eight hands, symbolizing the fusion of puppet and puppeteer. Eviner's work explores the ambiguous border between living and non-living entities, drawing inspiration from ancient cultures, particularly Greek philosophy and Anatolian ceramic traditions. Her creative process begins with drawing, which serves as a means of thinking in action and generates blueprints for sculptures and costumes. The artist's multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, video, performance, and sculpture, examining historical processes and challenging representation norms.
