In Their Eyes… Exhibition Explores Border Zones in Czech Republic

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The exhibition 'In Their Eyes…' at Ústí nad Labem's House of Arts in the Czech Republic explores themes of national identity and border regions through the works of artists from Croatia, Italy, and the Czech Republic. Curated by Michal Koleček and Camilla Martinelli, it will be open until December 9, 2016. This exhibition builds on concepts presented in the previous 'Modes of Democracy' show at DOX in Prague and Fortezza in South Tyrol, which examined German communities in both South Tyrol and the Sudetenland, now incorporating multi-ethnic Istria. Notable contributions include Richard Loskot's robotic installation reflecting Czech and German perspectives, Miroslav Hašek's personal narrative of Germans in Bohemia, and Slaven Tolj's triptych of burning flags. Other artists include Stefano Cagol, Hannes Egger, Michael Fliri, and more.
