IN Residence Workshop Debuts at Vienna Design Week with 'Intra-Temporality' Theme
The Italian platform IN Residence, founded ten years ago by designers Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò, is making its international debut at the Vienna Design Week. From September 27 to 30, 2018, twenty emerging designers will participate in a hands-on workshop exploring the theme 'Intra-Temporality,' which examines how Viennese manufacturing arts blend longevity with contemporaneity and reflects on time acceleration. The workshop is tutored by French designer Julien Carretero and the Treviso-based studio Zanellato/Bortotto, whose founders Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto emphasize the cultural richness of Vienna as a backdrop. Financial support comes from CEDIT – Ceramiche d'Italia and Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH, providing ten scholarships. Rainò notes the importance of investing in knowledge production and talent support, especially with experimental research. Future itinerant workshops in other European cities are planned.
