IN Residence launches Design Residency in Turin with Marcin Rusak and Roberto Sironi

After ten years, IN Residence, the program founded by Turin architects Barbara Brondi & Marco Rainò (Studio BRH+), expands with a new Design Residency cycle for international designers. The first edition takes place at Du Parc Contemporary Suites, a brutalist architecture gem on the Turin hillside built in the early 1970s by architects Laura Petrazzini and Corrado Levi, housing works by Mario Schifano and Michelangelo Pistoletto. Designers Marcin Rusak and Roberto Sironi are invited to a study and research period until March 2 on the theme "Encoded Symbols," exploring the codification of symbolism in everyday objects. A restitution lecture is scheduled for February 28 at Circolo dei Lettori. During the residency, each designer collaborates with a gallery to produce a limited-edition work, later exhibited and sold by that gallery. Two monographs with international distribution, curated by Brondi & Rainò, will document the work. Roberto Sironi works with Carwan Gallery in Beirut; Marcin Rusak's gallery partner is pending final agreement. The program also includes international workshops, with the first held at Vienna Design Week 2018 and two planned for 2019—one in Italy and one abroad.
