IN Residence and say hi to_ Launch Graft Design Call
The cultural group IN Residence – Design Dialogues, located in Turin, along with the international creative network say hi to_, has introduced Graft, a design initiative that encourages participants to merge two or more existing items into innovative artifacts that reflect evolving daily requirements. The submission deadline is June 17. Both professional designers and hobbyists are invited to share a single Instagram post featuring a title, a brief description in English, two images on a white background, and optional sketches, while tagging @inresidence, @sayhito_, and using #GraftDesign. Inspiration is drawn from creators like Martino Gamper, Roberto Sironi, and others. Notably, Sophie Rowley, a New Zealander trained at Central Saint Martins, combines two razor blades with a comb for a sustainable haircut solution. Jorge Penadés reimagines a Konstantin Grcic chair as a laundry rack. The initiative seeks to create artifacts that redefine the value, form, function, and meaning of their original components.
