In Puglia, two exhibitions at Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali: Ilaria Abbiento and AS+F's peace project for Ukraine

exhibition · 2026-04-27

At the Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare, two exhibitions are on view. Ilaria Abbiento (Naples, 1975) presents 'Azzurro Elementare' in the project room, a solo show exploring her symbiotic relationship with the Mediterranean Sea through photography, installation, and video art. Inspired by a poem by Pierluigi Cappello, the exhibition transforms personal memories—including those of her late father—into visual works such as the 2013 photograph 'Lido Conchiglia' and the 2020 video 'Teorema celeste'. The show also features the 2017 polyptych 'Cartografia del Mare', depicting chromatic variations of azure, white, and cobalt blue interwoven with an antique nautical chart of the Gulf of Naples. Meanwhile, the Russian collective AS+F (founded in 1987 by Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, Evgeny Svyatsky, and Vladimir Fridkes) presents 'Inverso Mundus', a video from 2015 curated by Rosalba Branà, on view until October 2. The work employs the ancient topos of the 'mundus inversus' (world upside down) to critique social injustices and the Putin regime. AS+F, who won the Premio Pascali in 2015, are also running a fundraising campaign in collaboration with the NGO International Center 'European Integration of Ukraine' to support the Art Residence Rosokhy Sas Nest in Ukraine, a shelter for refugees fleeing war.
