In Arte Vicino: Contemporary Art Festival at Bomarzo's Sacro Bosco

The first contemporary art festival at the Sacro Bosco in Bomarzo, Italy, opens July 4, 2023, celebrating the 500th anniversary of Vicino Orsini's birth. Curated by Susanne Neumann, Lucia Pesapane, and Antonio Rocca, the festival features works by Niki de Saint Phalle, Paolo Portoghesi, and Daniel Spoerri integrated among the park's monstrous stone sculptures. Portoghesi's final intervention, 'Il mostro sorridente,' adds colored glass to the Orco mask. Events include a Renaissance dinner on July 14, a talk on memory and gardens with Lina Bolzoni on July 28, and a film screening with director Luca Guadagnino on August 5. The festival runs through September 15, supported by the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, Accademia di Belle Arti di Viterbo, and Tuscia Film Fest, and promoted by the Grandi Giardini Italiani network.
