Impossible Langhe: A 643-Page Tourist Novel Without Addresses
Pietro Giovannini and photographer Maurizio Beucci have created 'Impossible Langhe', a 643-page tourist novel that explores the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy. The book, originally conceived as 'Tute stoire', evolved into an ideal map covering the entire Langhe territory. It is published by Fondazione Radical Design, founded by Sandra and Charley Vezza. Sandra Vezza, also known as Astemia Pentita, runs a 17-hectare pop winery between Barolo and Monforte, and is an entrepreneur behind Italgelatine and Gufram. The volume is divided into nine chapters, each with a map: Alba, Barbaresco, Moscato, Barolo (including Astemia Pentita), Dolcetto, Tanaro, Belbo, Bormida, and the Langa of Asti, Alessandria, Savona. Beucci, a Leica photographer specializing in fashion, contributed a photo reportage that offers suggestive glimpses without fully revealing the scenes. Appendices include a brief section on phonetics and a small Piedmontese vocabulary. The book profiles key figures such as Michele Ferrero, Giacomo Morra (the truffle king), and artist Pinot Gallizio.
