Immortality for Sale: Danilo Sciorilli's Art Show Inside a Funeral Fair

exhibition · 2026-04-27

At Tanexpo, Bologna's funeral fair celebrating its 30th edition, a contemporary art exhibition titled "No Time To Die" by Danilo Sciorilli opened from June 22 to 24, 2022. Curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and sponsored by the charitable society R&P Contemporary Art of Sara Zambon and Andrea Raimondi, the show presented alternative forms of immortality to funeral industry professionals. Spread over about 1,000 square meters, five installations offered solutions for body, spirit, and appearance survival. Sciorilli, obsessed with death since childhood, includes self-portraits in his works as a hope for preservation. The exhibition featured works like "Ambrosia" (an elixir of eternal life), "A Boundless Drop" (a marble for spirit ascension), and "Go over like a lead balloon" (a video-installation for eternal appearance). Other pieces included "Facilmente viene, facilmente va" (three animations about funeral objects) and a site-specific "Cause all we got is here to lose" with a large LED wall and a dark room. Sciorilli draws inspiration from sci-fi, cinema, mythology, and Gino De Dominicis. The show is part of a broader project involving "Il Rumore del Lutto" in Parma, where Sciorilli will conduct workshops with young people.
