Immersive Chagall Exhibition Opens at Museo della Permanente in Milan

An immersive exhibition titled 'Chagall. Sogno di una notte d’estate' (Chagall: A Midsummer Night's Dream) has opened at the Museo della Permanente in Milan, produced by Gruppo Arthemisia in collaboration with Sensorial Art Experience. The show previously attracted over 500,000 visitors at Carrières de Lumierès in Provence. The exhibition features twelve projection sequences covering themes such as Vitebsk, life, poetry, collage, war, stained glass, the Opéra Garnier, Daphnis and Chloe, mosaics, the circus, fairy tale illustrations, and the Bible. Direction is by Gianfranco Iannuzzi, Renato Gatto, and Massimiliano Siccardi, with a soundtrack by Luca Longobardi incorporating works by Mahler, Bizet, Mozart, and Janis Joplin. The installation uses mirrors to anchor viewers in reality while projections cover walls, floors, and columns. Key works projected include 'The Concert', 'Lovers in Blue', 'The Birthday', 'The White Crucifixion', and 'The Couple Above Saint-Paul'. The exhibition highlights Chagall's joyful, gravity-defying universe, influenced by Matisse, Natalia Goncharova, Mikhail Larionov, Fauvism, and Robert Delaunay. Chagall's vision transcends surrealist dream analysis, presenting a world without hierarchies among humans, animals, or angels.
