IMAGINE's 'About a Living Culture' Unveiled at Diversity Plaza, Queens

The Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, in collaboration with the New York City Department of Transportation, presents 'About a Living Culture,' a new public artwork by IMAGINE (a.k.a. Sneha Shrestha), installed at Diversity Plaza in Queens, New York City. The sculpture, fabricated in 2025 from powder-coated steel and fabric, was created in partnership with Black Cat Labs. IMAGINE, born in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1987, is known for works that explore themes of migration, identity, and cultural memory. The piece is part of a broader initiative to bring contemporary Himalayan art to public spaces, reflecting the museum's mission to share living cultures. The artwork was photographed by Nicholas Knight. The installation is on view at Diversity Plaza, a vibrant hub for the South Asian community in Queens, and is expected to engage diverse audiences with its commentary on living culture and heritage.
