Images Vevey 2020: Unexpected Encounters with Contemporary Image-Making

The 7th edition of the Festival Images Vevey took place in Vevey, Switzerland, from September 5 to 27, 2020, showcasing 50 projects themed 'Unexpected. Le hasard des choses', with 25 displayed in public areas. Director Stefano Stoll emphasized the festival's commitment to contemporary visual art, encompassing photography, video, and installations. Highlights included Christian Boltanski's 'Chance' and Stephen Shore's 'Uncommon Places', while Hayahisa Tomiyasu's 'TTP' series exemplified site-specific scenography. Juno Calypso's 'How Much Life is Enough' faced criticism. Works by Erik Kessels and others illustrated appropriationist practices, and emerging technologies were represented by Duy Hoàng and Refik Anadol.
