Illiz Architektur completes training pool extension in Vienna
Illiz Architektur has completed a new training pool hall for the Public Swimming Pool Großfeldsiedlung in Vienna, Austria. The 2,550 m² extension, finished in 2024, connects to the existing 1980s complex via two bridges. Designed as a climate-responsive addition, the project demonstrates how ageing public infrastructure can be expanded with minimal footprint. The design team includes Sabrina Mehlan, Stefanie Wögrath, and Daniel Sutovsky, with Lana Sanders and Daniel Sutovsky as lead architects. Landscape architecture was handled by Green4Cities, and the general contractor was HAZET Bauunternehmung. Photographs are by Hertha Huraus.
