Ilenia Durazzi and Maurizio Cattelan Launch Fashion Brand Durazzi Milano

other · 2026-04-27

During Milan Fashion Week 2023, Ilenia Durazzi and artist Maurizio Cattelan presented the new brand Durazzi Milano, blending fashion with contemporary art. The Autumn-Winter 2023/24 collection was showcased at Casa Corbellini-Wassermann, designed by architect Piero Portaluppi and now a gallery of Massimo De Carlo. Durazzi, with over a decade of experience as a head designer, merges equestrian themes with Italian craftsmanship. The presentation included a tableau vivant inspired by Mary Beth Edelson's "Some Living American Women Artists," projecting faces of pioneers like Suzy Lake, Carla Cerati, Sara Sabry, and Sara Del Fabbro onto performers. The collection features saddle skirts, riding boots, saddlebag-shaped bags, and blankets displayed on steel structures. The brand aims to transcend fashion trends through unconventional material approaches, collaborating with artisans mostly in central and northern Italy. Future plans include an installation during Berlin Art Week in April and a new space in dialogue with architecture.
