Ilaria Turba installs three permanent artworks in Reggio Emilia hills

Ilaria Turba (Como, 1978) has created three permanent outdoor installations for the project Sconfinamenti. Arte e natura nelle terre matildiche, curated by Daniele De Luigi. The works are located in the municipalities of Albinea, Canossa, and Quattro Castella in the province of Reggio Emilia, Italy. Turba resided in the area between October 2024 and June 2025, engaging with local communities and collecting personal photographs related to collective gatherings. The resulting pieces—brass circles engraved with images, designed to be slightly reflective—are conceived as "constellations" meant to remain for future generations. The openings take place from October 24 to 25, 2025, at Villa Tarabini in Albinea (a 17th-century villa being converted into a cultural hub), the Casa del Mezzadro in Quattro Castella (a farmhouse undergoing restoration), and the Centro Sociale Autogestito in Borzano di Canossa (a former elementary school turned social center since 1989). This is the second edition of Sconfinamenti, following the first (2022–2023) featuring Caterina Morigi and Giulia Poppi, curated by Fulvio Chimento. Turba stated she never decides the form of her work in advance, but lets it emerge from encounters with people and territory. De Luigi noted that contemporary art can activate virtuous social and political processes through community engagement.
