Il Volo concert at Valley of the Temples sparks controversy over costs and cultural value

The Italian pop-opera trio Il Volo will perform a Christmas concert on August 31 and September 1, 2024, at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily, as part of Agrigento's year as Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The event, entirely publicly funded with €1.2 million (including €200,000 for the artists and €14,000 for a press conference), has drawn criticism for its high cost, the closure of the archaeological site to visitors on both days, and a mandatory winter dress code in summer.
