Il Suono in Mostra: 9 sound art installations across Udine

The third edition of Il Suono in Mostra, an international sound art festival curated by Antonio Della Marina and Alessandra Zucchi of Spazioersetti, runs from June 1 to June 24, 2018, in Udine, Italy. Nine site-specific installations by Italian and international artists are placed in historic and modern venues across the city. All installations open simultaneously on June 24. Highlights include: Paolo Zavagna's La Piazza de le Piazze at Torre dell'Orologio, featuring recordings of clock chimes from cities like Paris, Brussels, Dakar, Venice, Udine, Padua, Nuremberg, and San Sebastian; John Grzinich's Un-spatial listening at Palazzo Mantica with sounds from an Estonian forest; Salvatore Miele's DSM – Digital Surveillance Model at the ancient prisons of Udine Castle, using recordings from Sollicciano prison in Florence; sawako's weavewaves: Tokyo 2018 at Casa Cavazzini, blending Tokyo's urban soundscape with minimalist electronics; Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec's Tuning in at Casa della Confraternita, a virtual orchestra from open-source sounds; Per Platou's Topology of two spaces at Palazzo Caiselli, using ultrasonic speakers; Steve Roden's The walls with sand in a single neutral color in an air-raid shelter; and Klaus Filip's Sonic Luz performance at Cinema Visionario, a 40-minute electronic music concert using desk objects and light. The festival also features a permanent installation, The Dream, at Spazioersetti.
