Il Prisma renovates Villa Morgagni for SDA Bocconi in Rome

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The Italian architecture firm Il Prisma has completed the renovation of Villa Morgagni in Rome's Nomentano district to house the new SDA Bocconi School of Management campus. The villa, designed in 1939 by Armando Brasini, spans four floors including a basement, with nearly 2,500 square meters of interior space and over 1,000 square meters of garden. The project marks Bocconi's first venture outside Milan, where it previously collaborated with Grafton Architects (2008) and SANAA (2019). The renovation preserved the early 20th-century facade, enhanced by a new lighting system, while introducing high-tech features such as digital connectivity, remote connections, and live presentation capabilities in eleven classrooms. A geometric motif echoing the original facade and flooring appears in Bocconi blue on walls and furnishings. The campus can host up to 260 daily visitors, with a ground-floor study area, basement refreshment zone, and top-floor offices. Custom prototypes developed with SDA Bocconi include multifunctional armchairs and mobile charging towers. The project was led by architect Sophie Marie Piccoli.
