Il Ponte Milano closes 2023 with €5.5M auction, records for Morlotti, Munari, Mannucci

Il Ponte Casa d'Aste in Milan concluded its final 2023 auction for modern and contemporary art on November 28–29, 2023, achieving over €5.5 million in total sales. The online-only sale saw 92% of lots sold and set three new auction records for Italian artists Ennio Morlotti, Bruno Munari, and Edgardo Mannucci. The top lot was Hans Hartung's T1962-E44 (1962), which sold for €252,000. Morlotti's Collina a Imbersago (Paesaggio con figure) (1956) achieved €201,600, a new record. Munari's 'futurist' painting Buccia di Eva (1929–30) sold for €176,400 against an estimate of €60,000–80,000, marking the best result for a non-sculptural work by the artist. Works by Salvo all exceeded estimates: S. Anna (2008) at €45,000 (estimate €12,000–18,000), Chiaro di luna (2012) at €80,000 (estimate €25,000–35,000), and Senza titolo (2004) at €100,000 (estimate €35,000–45,000). Carla Accardi's Frammenti (1987) sold for €26,000 (estimate €8,000–12,000). Edgardo Mannucci set a new record with Spirale at €18,900. Paolo Scheggi's Zone riflesse achieved €138,600. Renato Guttuso's monumental painting Il bosco d'amore (1984, over 3x4 meters) sold for €100,800, near its low estimate. Two works on paper by Angelo Morbelli, La sedia vuota and Il Natale dei rimasti, each sold for €50,400.
