Il Ponte Contemporanea Opens Showcase in Rome's Ostiense District
Rome's Il Ponte Contemporanea gallery, founded in 1993 by Bruno Puiatti and Giuliano Matricardi, has relocated from the Ghetto neighborhood to Testaccio-Ostiense, an underground and alternative district. The new Showcase space at Via Giuseppe Acerbi 31A is a small venue with a mezzanine, functioning as a display window for single-work shows or curatorial projects featuring established international artists. The previous space in Via Beatrice Cenci had become unsustainable due to excessive exhibitions. The gallery also opens a home gallery at Via dei Magazzini Generali 8 for emerging and mid-career artists, starting in October. The gallery has partnered with online platform Artsy to expand its reach. The inaugural exhibition, 'Sei Canzoni' by Sandro Chia, is produced in collaboration with 2RC Edizioni d'Arte, which has worked with artists like Alberto Burri, Gio Pomodoro, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giulio Turcato, and Giuseppe Santomaso. The next ONE project show in January will feature Chinese artist Liu Ye, with a catalog text by Achille Bonito Oliva.
